FOREX UPDATE

Tokyo - Tokyo stocks fell in Friday morning trading after initial rises as investors cautiously awaited the release later in the day of US unemployment data.

The Nikkei 225 Stock Average fell 16.54 points, or 0.16 per cent, to 10,198.1.

The broader-based Topix index was also down 4.65 points, or 0.49 per cent, at 938.12 as the August unemployment rate in the United States, one of Japan's largest export markets, was expected to tick up to 9.5 per cent from 9.4 per cent.
